My mind wanders, i daydream! Its a horrible affliction sometimes and it has lead me into the most terrible delusions of grandeur on so many occasions. But how? I have been so blessed in this life with some of the people i know and have met but chances are you have caused me much thought & trouble regardless of who you are. If you are well connected in the music industry, which some people i know are, then i will have dreamt about working with or for you. If you work in a really cool coffee shop then i have dreamt of being your chief barista. If you are a kick-ass graphic designer, then there is a good chance i have thought about doing what you do. In fact, this one probably drives me more insane than any other. I have been told, rather kindly that i could make some serious money doing...
The office is kind of strung together right now but we shall make it a home soon enough.......more pictures, less words!! If you must know, ask me.......http://www.text-link-ads.com/xml_blogger.php?inventory_key=PH203EOCDRY2ZAL1H02V...
One of the weird things about working at home is that you get to see so much more of what goes on in the street than normal so while i sipped my tea this morning this dude zoomed in & turned. As he zoomed back out i decided to take a snap!! In case you are not familiar with what this car is doing, read thisI wonder will i be in the picture that ends up on google?http://www.text-link-ads.com/xml_blogger.php?inventory_key=PH203EOCDRY2ZAL1H02V...

We are both suffering from a cold, Cherith is worse than me but i get the feeling i haven't quite got right into it yet. Anyway, she shuffled out to work today feeling ill and i shuffled into my 'office' as she left, also feeling not too hot. When you work from home its easier to be motivated when sick, i think anyway. I didn't have to go outside in the cold, i didn't have to open up the shop or deal with customers while my head spun and my nose dripped! I could do that all in the privacy of my own home, whilst staring at 2 screens! Computer screens, not the t.v.!! So, here i am pushing myself to the weekend, knowing that i can lie in bed for two whole days if i need to (im kidding)!http://www.text-link-ads.com/xml_blogger.php?inventory_key=PH203EOCDRY2ZAL1H02V...
When i took this picture and started to edit it i intended to draw particular attention to my sore eye! Then the power of Photoshop gripped me and i ended up with what you see below! You probably don't notice anything wrong with my eye but my right eye (left in the image) has been sore since last night..........I spent all day yesterday and most of today in front of a screen and i have also struggled to handle this rather disjointed week. When i say struggle, i don't mean in a bad way but its just been different and when i have 'different' or busy i get sore eyes, irritated skin etc. We were off on monday and then on Tuesday & Wednesday i caught the 8am train to Belfast, changed at Belfast and headed to Derriaghy at 9.10, arrived there at 9.30 and began my days work. I left at 5pm,...
This is my current work area at home and will be for a little while, its very good i have to say! A blog has been one of the first stages of my new job! We have a webshop in development right now and there have been many setbacks but this week has been my first week in charge of the project. I am not sure if i feel like i am in charge just yet, a lot of our progress depends on the company who are providing all of our computer needs across the shops. To say that they have a played a huge role in our development over the last year is probably a bit of an understatement. It would be equally understated to suggest that these guys are very busy with all our current needs. In light of this we need to learn to walk before we run, and perhaps that is a good thing. So in the meantime, updates and...

I started my new job today! There is not too much to tell right now. I spent most of my day deep in legal info, privacy policy and terms & conditions. I am guessing that would make for a rather uninteresting blog post! I sat on my backside for an awful lot of the day & that was weird and not that good for me but we will work out some kind of routine to keep me from turning into a pie in 6 months. More soon, if you're lucky...............http://www.text-link-ads.com/xml_blogger.php?inventory_key=PH203EOCDRY2ZAL1H02V...

Due to several questions about what my new job is i am giving a quick overview of the post i am taking up tomorrow. In a nutshell, i am overseeing the development of the Faith Mission Online shop. When it will launch is not exactly clear yet. there is a lot to do before we can announce a launch. I will work from our distribution center for two days in the week and initially i will spend the rest of my working time at home in front of a 22" screen! A location for our web interests is yet to be decided upon but i shall begin at home and see what happens. You can rest assured i will keep you all notified here and via a special blog for our online shop, which will launch soon we hope. Anyway, thats about it really, il give you an update tomorrow evening after day...
I just started my final week in the Ballymena Bookshop after almost 3 years. William is learning fast and will be grand once he settles into the surroundings. I remember those first couple of weeks of trying to find my feet and learn fast, i said a little about it here. I tried to learn as much about the christian book and music world as possible and as quickly, i think i did ok in the end! Its been great over the last few years watching the company change dramatically and the future looks very exciting.http://www.text-link-ads.com/xml_blogger.php?inventory_key=PH203EOCDRY2ZAL1H02V...

Which are you? I am firmly in the Mac camp but i use PC in work. Our point of sale system is PC based and is provided by these guys. They are PC people and very darn good at it i have to say. It is a bit of a joke now between Iain and myself that i am a MAC user! He actually had the tenacity to ask me if my macBook had wireless capabilities on tuesday morning! The Cheek! Anyway, i will have to continue using PC in my new role at Faith Mission but what do you use? This morning we hopped on the train at 8am and sped to Belfast. Cherith went shopping and i switched trains to hit our warehouse for a web/online meeting. I may blog about that soon! Anyway i was done at lunch time so i zoomed back into the city and met Cherith for lunch and some shopping! Truth is, she had already shopped herself into the ground and i was tired and didn't see anything i wanted so we didn't hang around too long. We had a fun day anyway and the train ride was a hootCherith will no doubt upload some pics of her purchases here, go take a look! Disclaimer: 'Train adventure Tuesday' will not be a recurring post, maybe, perhaps!http://www.text-link-ads.com/xml_blogger.php?inventory_key=PH203EOCDRY2ZAL1H02V...

Ok, i am off work today BUT i have been finding that when i am off from my day job that i am seldom actually off from work of some kind. Last weekend we had a great couple of days off, switched off the phones, didnt look at emails etc etc. The thing was when i checked back into normality on Tuesday last week, the emails and messages had just piled up and left me with even more to do! Today, i am working on another Open Uni assignment and believe it or not i value the course and the qualification that i will hopefully gain at the end of it so i want to devote proper time to it, not just cram it in hurriedly. 10am is my start time so i thought id blog first! I also have some news which i am being cautious about announcing or dramatizing but it is quite exciting, i think it is anyway. The...

Ok, i have some questions, some thoughts and some opinions! Those words should be the new "bloggers manifesto" but i doubt that will happen, though if it does please credit me! Today, I am curious about where people buy books online. I asked on twitter and so far amazon keeps being mentioned. I have bought books and music from amazon several times in recent years and have never once been unhappy or dissatisfied with the service. There are so many factors involved in what makes a good website/shop work but what does it for you? What keeps you going back and what impresses you? If you could add something to the site you buy from, what would it be? Just tell me what you think?p.s i will explain why im asking...

This morning i arrived at work and began my usual routine of getting things set up for the day. Mondays are not really busy with customers but i normally have lots to do in order to get the week off to a good start for us. So, as i set up our tills for the day the last thing i needed was a phone call to say that Josephine was sick. She is the longest serving member of staff in the shop, she almost never gets sick or needs a day off but hey, that happens sometimes. I was resigned to the fact that i would spend the day alone in work which is not so nice. As it happens i was able to get another member of part-time staff to cover a couple of hours so i could get lunch and do some banking but for most of the day i was on my own. I found myself wanting a conversation with every customer by the...
I just set up a group on Facebook for our Church. It wasn't an official commissioned thing and to be honest for about 24 hours after i set it up i was a bit worried that i might have over-stepped the mark a tad. We all know that Church's can be funny about stuff like this don't we? Well if you are not aware of the Church not liking things like Facebook then read this. I was glad to find that within a few hours we had people accepting my invitation to join the group and a small indication that perhaps it could be a good idea for us. Ok, we are not on a par with such facebook favorites as Mark Driscoll and i wont expect the members to reach 5000 too quickly but I also had a conversation on Friday which encouraged me with regards to the group and blogging etc etc. My employers have also...
Sometimes a book title just says 'read me' and this is probably one of those times. I had heard about this somewhere so when Trevor mentioned it this week i was eager to have a look. I have read the first few chapters even though i haven't finished the Ken Wilson book yet. Raised by a Jewish mother and abandoned by his professional poker-playing father, Antonucci found Jesus at age twenty after studying the New Testament. When he finally started meeting Christians, he was disappointed to discover a "boring, stale religion." Sound familiar? Well, instantly i have engaged with this book, thats a good start for me! It gets a glowing recommendation from loads of "popular" authors & speakers which is not always a good reason to buy a book but in this case they seem to be warranted. I will...

This came to the shop last week, i likes what i hears.......I had not heard of Edison Glass but i love it when this happens. I liked the name, liked the artwork and though i didnt hear a sample i had a hunch!! ha!http://www.text-link-ads.com/xml_blogger.php?inventory_key=PH203EOCDRY2ZAL1H02V...
I shall set the scene for you. I work in a Christian Bookshop, it is called Faith Mission Bookshop and it is not on a busy street in town. This means that if you are a visitor to the shop you will most likely have purposely arrived at our door, you will not be likely to stumble upon us as you browse the shops in town. Even if you missed the shop sign and wandered in you would doubtless hear the music, see the stock on the shelves and realize you were in a Christian Bookshop. So, i am behind the counter where i sell a customer a book and imagine my surprise when he asks me "so, are you a Christian then?" Perhaps i shouldn't be surprised by this but i couldn't figure out why someone who was not a Christian would want to work in a Christian...
This is andru & his girlfriend. Andru works for me on Friday & Saturday's and is studying photography the rest of the week. He just started a blog here and you will be treated to some great photos i am sure. Go say hi........http://www.text-link-ads.com/xml_blogger.php?inventory_key=PH203EOCDRY2ZAL1H02V...
Its cold and dark and wet and windy outside and i have just spent all morning taking notes & reading for my first assignment of 2008. Its a truck load of work to get through but i feel happier now than i did last week. I picked up the book last week and the first few pages were filled with words and phrases i didn't understand, i was not impressed. I think like any project or work related task you need to set your mind to just getting stuck in and concentrating. Thats what iv done this morning and i feel happier, phew! So, if you want to know what on earth i am blabbing on about, click here p.s. if this doesn't make my blog into a work of literary genius then nothing ever will!http://www.text-link-ads.com/xml_blogger.php?inventory_key=PH203EOCDRY2ZAL1H02V...

It all started with The Matrix although I didn’t know it then…
Back in 1999, I had just started in my current job, and was hungrily pursuing a corporate lifestyle: introducing new technology, writing management reports, answering calls for support. In my private life, I was following the six-step Social Expectations programme : graduate, get job, buy house, get married, have children, work until retirement or death.
In 2001, something happened which has been gnawing at my soul ever since. Our daughter was born the month after 9/11.
It’s hard to explain the effect this had, but I ended up questioning the world we had brought our child into. Essentially, I didn’t want my child to have the same predictable life mapped out for her, to become a societal drone. Can you...
I know it’s been quiet on The Levee Breaks recently. Still having a tough time at work, with no end in sight. Paranoia is running high eclipsed only by my stress levels.
I’m such a ball of negative energy at the moment.
I had a job interview on Friday last week, and did a fantastic interview with a panel of four (very professionally run, BTW). Needless to say, the weekend was spent dreaming of a job offer and how I might write my resignation letter without lacing it with anthrax…
Ah, but t’was not to be folks. I got a letter on Tuesday to say that I had been unsuccessful in my application, but (some consolation) I was first reserve for the post. All I need to do now is find out who got the job and reverse over him/her with my jalopy……
The sooner I get...
I meant to write about Chris Jackson’s The Abundance Site some time ago, but this has been languishing in my drafts folder, so I thought I’d share it here.
Unhappy People Living Unhappy Lives
Mrs Levee and I know (more than our fair share of) miserable people. People who feel they are downtrodden, that the world is against them in every conceivable way. People who simply don’t enjoy life. Nothing ever goes right for them, people talk behind their backs, they’re always ill with something or other. They’re incapable of caring about anything other than their own problems, such is their self-involvement.
I find one of the common characteristics of these depressing, misguided creatures is the sheer chaos that defines their mental processes. So disorganised are...
