After the great success of the Quinn Support Group's first public meeting in Cullyhanna just over a week ago, another meeting has been arranaged for Crossmaglen. Initially it was to have taken place in the GAA club, but it has now been moved to the community centre. The meeting takes place next Thursday, 13th December, at 8pm.Given that there was standing room only at the Cullyhanna meeting, let's hope there's enough room in Cross to fit everyone...
In the last week two PSNI officers have been shot by what are termed dissident republicans but who might be more accurately be described as non-subscribing Provisionals. Thankfully, though badly wounded, neither officer was killed. The Real IRA claimed responsible for the attack in Derry and a group styling itself the Irish Republican Liberation Army admitted the shooting in Dungannon. (Where do they get their names? Is there an Irish National Republican Army out there too?) It has been revealed that after the helicopter crash in Crossmaglen yesterday, a group of youngsters attacked an ambulance as it headed for Daisy Hill hospital in Newry. According to the BBC, the Ambulance Service's director of operations Brian McNeill said: "They stopped the vehicle for about a minute and shone torches into it. We are only trying to do our job and it is difficult enough going to a major incident like that without having to deal with unruly crowds, and it is unacceptable."Apparently fireworks, stones and snowballs were hurled at the emergency services.Mr. McNeill added: "We would appeal to people to stop this.
